Methodical Ramblings 01
Lord, if any letter to You could be considered ramblings, this would be the mold. I honestly don’t have a particular subject to discuss with You, but I do want to write to You. Perhaps I can start with what I’ve observed this week. Looking back through documented finds throughout history and chasing rabbits down the whole of Biblical evidence in the world, it's fascinating the finds that people from all walks of life have been able to find according to the locations in Your word. Just the other day the kid and I were talking about unicorns in the Bible and I have always told her that unicorns were absolutely real, though not in the sense of our more modern thinking. Websters in 1828 defined unicorn as a one horned animal, the monoceros, the name is often applied to the rhinoceros. We also know that one horned animals aren’t limited in Your animal creation like the beetle or the narwhal. But the tendency is also to forget that You have created animals that are no longer around, the dinos and the dodo’s coming first to mind. How many other species could there have been that we just don’t know about? Even the elasmotherium is forgotten about. It really is the simple explanations though that often make the most sense. What is a unicorn - a one horned animal. Why Your word has been perpetuated as a fairy tale because of this word is beyond me.
But isn’t that like the enemy? To take something just being described as what was seen and crafting it into something that gives cause for someone to doubt. Writers never said horse with horn. The devil has always twisted what is good into his evil and warped machinations. A man was speaking on abortion, and I wish I knew his name to credit him and You for giving him the wisdom and discernment to see what’s going on in the world. A couple of points he makes are that satan cannot kill You but he can wound the heart of the Father. And the way he does this is through that sin and temptation of abortion, an unholy sacrament to him. A modern day molech where children must die so others can live. He goes on to say that’s backwards, Christ doesn’t want us to die, He came to die so we could live. And he points out something so interesting. When we take of The Lord’s Supper, or the Eucharist, and when You said, “Take and eat it; this is my body.”, You were showing us the sacrifice of Your broken body and later on You go say, ““Drink from it, all of you. For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” “This is my body”, and the chant of molech’s worshippers can be heard from the depraved mind, “My body, my choice” comes as no surprise when we see how satan twists what is good for evil.
You offered Yourself where others offer someone else to cover their sins in the name of health and wellness. But Solomon was right, there really is nothing new under the sun. People have been twisting Your word to fit their narrative since the beginning with the deceiver being present for all of it. I can’t help but recall a bone chilling phrase I heard where within the law of man, starting with parents, failing in part brings the punishment of spanking or grounding. Failing to uphold local laws can mean citations or community service, jail time. Failing national laws can mean a myriad of things from enormous fines to death penalties. All of this meaning the higher up your failings bring you to, the more severe the punishment. Then why in Your holy name would we EVER want to break Your laws?! You are The Sovereign God of the cosmos. You have laws that you enforce that for some reason we have taken a step back to examine and say that “sin isn’t a big deal, I just ask Jesus into my heart and I can live however I want”. That’s why You warn us, “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven”. That should break our hearts or at least call for a thorough examination. Of course we still sin this side of glory, but the realization of it should bring us to a faster response of repentance. We can’t play out our lives defining what is good and evil and trading them for each other and not expect consequences. For that Lord, I ask for forgiveness as I have done so mistakenly or knowingly and I can’t help but think of the harm potentially or realistically I could have done to the name of You or Your kingdom. I ask You to continue to pursue my heart and mind to hold them to Your truths and not some twisted doctrine where sacrificing truth comes in the name of “self-improvement” or “self-serving”. I trust in You and You alone for the discernment of my heart and mind, Amen.
