The Unwanted
Lord Father, I looked for articles I remember seeing about powerful testimonies of women who went through one of the most heinous acts humanity has displayed being threatened and raped but through that abandoned human logic and had the baby. Fifteen years ago, story after story could be found of these powerful women who through their tragedy and pain felt your call to protect those who were in the womb. I remember reading about the children of victims becoming strong military leaders, doctors, scientists, those who had families of their own. But as I was searching for some points to talk with You about, they’ve all seemed to have disappeared. Instead we are pummeled with article after article about women being defined by that atrocity. Of course victims of rape should be cared for, protected, and met with Your Holy love by Your people, but if tragedy befalls tragedy, how can we justify love over just one life if there are now two involved.
I know there may be several if not most who would disagree with me, many fellow brothers and sisters. And I get it, the abhorrent act of a man, or a woman, sexually manipulating someone else to their lustful desires and taking something sacred, or what used to be, for themselves should be chemically castrated and not be allowed back in society. The victim, innocent. If in the case the victim finds themselves pregnant, there is another innocent victim here. Some countries have taken action where they will call the children born out of rape victims of a crime which would allow access and care as this article states, “that help could be accessed at any point in their lives, to address issues including alcohol or drug dependency, education and housing benefit.” How we as people haven’t gotten our act together about this in this century or the last, I’ll never know. We know about the trauma, we know about the suffering, we know what this can do to the mental, physical, and spiritual help of the mother and how that can affect the child, if not aborted. I’ll digress from my thoughts, I can feel myself getting angrier and angrier thinking about the cowards who prey on people and take the advantage they create to live out their disturbed fantasies.
Abortion, on any level, whether it be a decision made up of saving the alteration of one’s life to the stomach wrenching product from rape, is not Your desire in any case and sinful on any level. Jerimiah 1:5 You tell us You knew us BEFORE we were in the womb. That statement is even more amazing considering now we can see the exact moment conception happens and a blast of light comes from the egg. Psalm 139:13-16 tells us how You form us, the work of Your hands. In Exodus, if men fought each other and one accidently hits a pregnant woman and causes a miscarriage, the law was for them to be put to death! We have fallen a long way from the standard of caring for the womb. It was considered MURDER.
How is it defined? From the Got Questions website, “Murder is defined as “the unlawful, premeditated killing of one human being by another.” Murder is unlawful killing—that is, killing that is done by the judgment of one human being against another, for personal (rather than national) reasons.” This seems clear, however the depraved mind calls for “choice” and ownership of what’s been lent to us. You have always been a gentleman letting us decide what to do with our free will. You’ve never forced repentance and You’ve certainly never forced anyone to remain in Your presence, but if the equation checks out, abortion=murder and murder=sin, then sin=death. Your perfect justice equates the killing of the innocent to death and separation from You for eternity. The color gray is not discernable in Your perfection when it comes to the serious matter of sin.
I know it’s not the funnest topic to talk about, and I wish I didn’t feel compelled to, but the evil that comes from abortion, because satan can’t do anything to You, he goes well out of his way to pierce Your heart. Your love for us, especially for the unborn, is like the unbridled love I have for my kid. To me, my love for that kid feels uncontrollable and unbound. You love perfectly, however. Your love is beyond the comprehension of man where if we do these heinous, deplorable acts, You are still faithful and just to forgive us of those sins. How one could commit such awful atrocities and still find a way to change their life completely to submit to You, I don’t think I’ll ever completely understand while I’m here, but I was once Your enemy too and You never abandoned me, quite the opposite. If You cared for me, even me, then how much for every single person who You knew before the womb. How arrogant of us. How pompous, conceited, vile. Mankind is still offering sacrifices to false gods, only this time it’s in the name of “protection”, “health of the mother”, or “the unplanned”. My wife made it clear when she was pregnant, should there ever have to be a decision, I better choose that baby everytime. She was not prepared to let sin overrule her life and make a decision that her life had more value than another. Her pregnancy was certainly something I wish nobody had to go through, but through the pain, You brought out wonders. You provided peace, comfort, and a stronger will to combat our weakness. You made our little one a fighter from day one. Seeing Your precious gift to us makes me realize that everything outside of You and Your will is so meaningless and empty. If a decision had to be made and if that decision was the sacrifice of the innocent vs the victim, our life would not have the fullness we have. “Blessed is the man whose quiver is full”. I may not have many, but my quiver has the strongest, sharpest, and truest arrow fashioned (which let’s be real, I am being biased, but I don’t care). Where would the world be without the kid? What condition would the world be in without the story of Ethel Waters? Chrystal York? Tim Tebow? Their testimonies led many to You. One would have been plenty, but reading about them, they brought Your love to people who are now eternally grateful for their moms choosing what was right, turning the victim into victory. May we be ever mindful of the impact and potential one of Your known, fashioned, fearfully and wonderfully made children could be to the dark corners and corridors of our lives, Amen.
P.S. - I may have chased a few rabbits, Lord, but I wanted to say one more thing about abortion in general. The procedures, by drugs, by the scalpel and pliers, their little bodies and minds feel with pain and without any understanding. Monstrous. People can call a baby developing whatever they want, they can reconcile themselves to their own comforts to ease their minds, but one day, they’ll face You for an explanation. Lord, may You forgive them, they don’t have a clue. Send Your Spirit to the women and to the doctors who perform this depravity. It’s only by Your light, Your glory, Your holiness that can sever those chains and un-sear the conscience that keeps them from understanding Your morality and laws.
