Irreconcilable

Lord, Father in Heaven, I was reading in 2 Timothy and I came to what I’ve must have heard or read not less than a few dozen times throughout my life, but in chapter 3, Paul writes, “1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.” There is one that really stood out to me recently and that’s irreconcilable. The Greek aspondoi, without a treaty or covenant; of things not mutually agreed upon, certainly describes the state of the world today in no small measure. In my country we can’t even agree on the concept of basic biology even though through truth in its exclusivity and the studies through the sciences we know the correct and truthful answer. The burden of proof falls squarely onto those because when You created us You created, “male and female”, almost as if you had structure and natural law in mind. You have provided Your word with so much evidence in how Your law works that we can use a tool given to us through science to understand Your natural order, but the evil that pervades always has the opposite reaction. Where there were two, now people claim there are…72? Can we talk about this one? From medicine.net, “Apconsugender: It means knowing what are not the characteristics of gender but not knowing what are its characteristics. Thus, a person hides its primary characteristics from the individual.” There is not one part of that sentence that begins to form a complete thought before ending with a question in of itself. You know what you don’t know, but what you don’t know is hidden from what you know? What kind of self defeating verbal vomit is this? 

This is only one example of how we’ve tried to escape logic and reasoning, both of which are necessary to ascertain the truth in Your word as well as the natural created world, but the list goes on. We agree that racism is bad but for only one race. We agree that murder is wrong except when it comes to the most innocent. We agree that law and order should prevail unless social justices are violated and the innocent party who is playing catch up to the latest fads of words and the criminals who should be prosecuted can’t be because of community outrage in spite of their criminality can’t bear the weight of justice. In other words, we’ve abandoned the natural law of which was written on our hearts for the law of human depravity where the individual decides what truth becomes relevant. Two phrases come to mind : “My body, my choice” and “You need to affirm my truth”, the slogan of the new world order. We sacrifice our children to satan while we use Your sacred words, “this is My body” and we wrap the truth to fit our perspectives and conform it to us instead of us conforming to what reality is. It really can’t be long now, can it?

Father, have mercy on us. Lord, draw close to the irreconcilable, the ones lost and fighting to stay that way. The ones who find comfort in their open cell prisons until the door one day finally shuts with no hope to escape the wrath and judgment meant for the accuser and his followers. Be with us always until the end and may we follow You in the only Truth You sent to us in Your son, Jesus Christ.
